Was this done in Nashville? Where can I get a copy to show at church?
What hurts me about this is that the public face of Christianity has so many negatives connected to it these days.
Of course winning back public perceptions won't come from some big program, rally, or marketing strategy. It will only come when the people sitting on the pews on Sundays walk out and live like Jesus during the week.
If we would all love the world as Jesus did then people might see crazy Christians on TV, but the Christians they saw in their every day life would be people who cared about them. That would change perceptions.
Hi Shane. I think it's Dan Kimball's church. If I remember correctly it came from his blog... but not totally sure. It really is disheartening, isn't it?
it would be nice to hear these folks answer the question, Why do you think that of Christians?
we can suppose things all day, like, we are not really followers of Christ so we should not be called the C word. i can even live with the world saying we are waiting for something we are not going to get... peace, love, etc in this world defined by God is not where they find their definitions. but how did we become scary? that is the stuff i would like them to talk about...
"people who wear white and, like, kind of glow but are kind of freaky?"
"fanatical, bible thumpers."
these are such disheartening statements to hear and i agree that i would love to have heard the answers to a follow-up question "why do you perceive them to be this way?"
~sigh~
wasn't it Mahatma Ghandi who said "If it weren't for Christians, I'd be one."
matt, i must hijack this to my blog. i hope you don't mind.
