collaborative prayer for Sunday's Communion
Thursday, September 6, 2007 at 01:25PM based of whole life worship. Romans 12:1
1: Father God, we are weary of lives half lived for You.
2: We are weary of holding tight to things when we should let go.
3: We've had enough of self-help solutions
1: We realize that without you we are beyond help.
3: You have called us to lay everything down
2: To place it on the altar of grace
1: You are the lover of our souls
3: a seeker of pure undivided hearts
2: You call us to drop everything and follow
1: our fears
2: our self-saving strategies
3: our lust for more things
1: our past which accuses us
2: our anger which divides and destroys us
3: our greed that corrupts us
1: our love of self that blinds us
3: Lord, as a people we have sinned
2: We've chosen other things over the one true living God
1: And yet with amazing grace you relentlessly call us into relationship.
3: And so now we come to a table.
2: The bread- a symbol of Your body that was broken
1: your brokenness Lord Jesus put me back together.
3: The cup- a symbol of Your blood
2: You shed Your blood so that I might live
1: Your blood for my salvation
2: And so we worship You
3: our hope and savior
1: and when we take the bread and drink the cup we present ourselves
as living sacrifices-
All Three: holy
3: because you covered our sins
All Three: Acceptable
1: Because you brought us in
3: This is our act of worship.
2: In Jesus Name,
All Three: Amen.
