This morning's Prayer
Sunday, June 26, 2011 at 12:36PM (Parts of this is from the writings of Ray Comfort)
Dear Lord, I used to pursue You for all the wonderful things I found in Your hands. I loved to ask You for all the things You've promised me, but now I want more. I'm not hungry for more things, more thrills, or more favor with people. I just want You. I promise I'll lay aside my watches, schedules, programs, and habits if You will just come once again.
Lord, we have build for ourselves wonderful buildings with great acoustics, living in luxury while sinners sink into hell. We say that we are rich while we are poor, blind, wretched miserable and naked. We have lavish luxury on the lifeboat while people drown around us.
Pull us away from toxic habits like television, the internet, and any other things that rival our affection for You. Jesus Christ Son of God—Call us away from the circus of American culture so that we can be your hands and feet.
Lord, I pray that as we come forward to celebrate communion that we will take a calculated inventory of our lives and ask ourselves if we love you- really love you. Do we love you so much that it changes our schedule.
Do we love you so much that we are willing to sacrifice everything to follow you.
Do we love what you love?
Lord, may we ask ourselves if we are truly following you or our own selfish wants…
The need to control
The need for more things
The need to be heard
The need to stay stuck and stunted in spiritual growth
Move us away from the chaotic clamor of worldliness and toward the cross of Christ.
