My 2011 Christmas Poem: Christmas Bells

    Christmas bells are solemn, still

    Resting in the father’s will

Then rings the chorus strong and true

Of all that Christ would suffer through

The echoes of a silent night

    Remind us of angelic flight

And when they echo down to earth

    Underscoring Jesus’ birth,

we also hear a darker tone

    When Jesus suffered all alone.

    Mocked and broken, disciples fled

The holy blood on wood was shed

This piercing of his mother’s heart

The veil, so holy torn apart.

This was the first night of his life

to rescue us from sin and strife.

    Bethlehem, no room to spare

    Calvary- redemption’s share.

The poorest came to worship him

No host would dare to let Him in.

The manger was his resting place

    Redemption in an infants face.

The bells ring forth this Christmas eve

Our hearts restored to Him would cleave.

The cross and cradle joined as one.

The Father’s tears, this infant Son

The star refused to hide its face

And bells ring out a song called grace.
