(Track 1)
1: "Do not let your hearts be troubled.
2: Trust in God trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you.
3: I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
4: You know the way to the place where I am going."
1: And now, dear brothers and sisters,
2: we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope.
3: For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns,
4: God will bring back with him the believers who have died.
1: After Jesus rose from the grave, he was seen by over five hundred.
4: And before he ascended to heaven his disciples asked him:
2: Lord, is this the time when You will reestablish the kingdom and restore it to Israel?
3: He said to them,
1: It is not for you to become acquainted with and know what time brings the things and events of time and their definite periods or fixed years and seasons but
3: you shall receive power
4: ability,
1: efficiency,
2: and might
1: when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be My witnesses in Jerusalem and all Judea and Samaria and to the ends (the very bounds) of the earth.
3: And when He had said this, even as they were looking at Him, He was caught up, and a cloud received and carried Him away out of their sight.
4: And while they were gazing intently into heaven as He went, behold, two men dressed in white robes suddenly stood beside them,
2: Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing into heaven? This same Jesus, Who was caught away and lifted up from among you into heaven, will return in the same way in which you saw Him go into heaven.
4: They recalled what Jesus had said to them
1: "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.
4: As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.
1: For in the days before the flood,
3: people were eating
2: and drinking,
4: marrying and giving in marriage,
2: up to the day Noah entered the ark;
1: and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.
3: Two men will be in the field;
4: one will be taken
2: and the other left.
4: Two women will be grinding with a hand mill;
2: one will be taken
3: and the other left.
1: "Therefore keep watch,
4: because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.
2: So you also must be ready, because the Jesus will come at an hour when you do not expect him.
I Wish We’d All Been Ready
(Track 2)
3: Jesus said to them:
1: "Watch out that no one deceives you. Many will come in my name, claiming,
2: 'I am he,' and will deceive many.
1: When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come.
4: Nation will rise against nation,
2: and kingdom against kingdom.
3: There will be earthquakes in various places, and famines. These are the beginning of birth pains.
1: You must be on your guard. You will be handed over to the local councils and flogged in the synagogues. On account of me you will stand before governors and kings as witnesses to them.
All: And the gospel must first be preached to all nations.
4: Whenever you are arrested and brought to trial, do not worry beforehand about what to say. Just say whatever is given you at the time, for it is not you speaking, but the Holy Spirit.
1: "Brother will betray brother to death,
2: and a father his child.
3: Children will rebel against their parents and have them put to death.
4: All men will hate you
1: because of me,
4: but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.
2: For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God,
3: and the dead in Christ will rise first.
1: After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.
4: And so we will be with the Lord forever.
I Can Only Imagine
(Track 3)
1: "God's kingdom is like ten young bridesmaids who took oil lamps and went out to greet the bridegroom. Five were silly and five were smart. The silly bridesmaids took lamps, but no extra oil. The smart bridesmaids took jars of oil to feed their lamps. The bridegroom didn't show up when they expected him, and they all fell asleep.
2: "In the middle of the night someone yelled out,
4: 'He's here! The bridegroom's here! Go out and greet him!'
1: The ten bridesmaids got up and got their lamps ready. The silly bridesmaids said to the smart ones,
3: 'Our lamps are going out; lend us some of your oil.'
4: "They answered,
1: 'There might not be enough to go around; go buy your own.'
4: "They did, but while they were out buying oil, the bridegroom arrived. When everyone who was there to greet him had gone into the wedding feast, the door was locked.
3: "Much later, the other bridesmaids, the silly ones, showed up and knocked on the door, saying,
2: 'Master, we're here. Let us in.'
4: "He answered,
1: 'Do I know you? I don't think I know you.'
4: "So stay alert. You have no idea when he might arrive.
3: “But when the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit upon his glorious throne.
2: All the nations will be gathered in his presence, and he will separate the people as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.
4: He will place the sheep at his right hand and the goats at his left.
“Then the King will say to those on his right,
1: ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world. For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.’
4: “Then these righteous ones will reply,
3: ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you?
2: Or thirsty and give you something to drink?
3: Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing?
4: When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?’
3: “And the King will say,
1: ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters you were doing it to me!’
4: “Then the King will turn to those on the left and say,
1: ‘Away with you, you cursed ones, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his demons. For I was hungry, and you didn’t feed me. I was thirsty, and you didn’t give me a drink. I was a stranger, and you didn’t invite me into your home. I was naked, and you didn’t give me clothing. I was sick and in prison, and you didn’t visit me.’
3: “Then they will reply,
4: ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry
3: or thirsty
2: or a stranger
4: or naked
3: or sick
4: or in prison, and not help you?’
2: “And he will answer,
1: ‘I tell you the truth, when you refused to help the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me.’
2: “And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous will go into eternal life.”
4: Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying,
1: "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.
3: He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."
2: He who was seated on the throne said,
1: "I am making everything new!"
SONG
4: Then he said,
2: "Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true."
1: "It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life. He who overcomes will inherit all this, and I will be his God and he will be my son.
3: But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur.
All: This is the second death."
1: In the Book of John, chapter 8, verse 32, Jesus says that we shall know the truth and the truth will set us free.
2: What is the truth?
3: What is the secret to life?
4: Big questions.
All: One answer.
2: Not a million,
5 Not even two,
All: One answer.
1: I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life,
2: Jesus said.
1: No man,
3: not even one,
1: comes unto the Father but by Me.
4: John 14:6.
2: And you have to believe Him and call Him Lord
3: or turn your back on Him and call Him a liar.
4: What will you do?
3: He said it.
2: What is your reaction.
1: Hey, I believe Jesus was a good man, just like Buddha, Joseph Smith, Muhammad, and Ghandi—
5: Wrong. He said, "No man comes unto the Father but by Me." He says that He is God. How can Jesus be a good man and a deceiver? He is either God or a liar. Who do you say He is?
3: Sure He’s kind of like God. He’s one possible road leading to God, right?
1: Wrong.
2: He said he was the only way.
1: No man comes unto the Father but by Me.
5: So if He’s God, what does he have to say to us?
2: It’s found in the Bible.
1: Specifically, the Book of Romans.
4: We like to call it “The Roman Road,” and if you travel down the road, you’ll find the answer to
2: the big questions!
4: Why am I here?
3: What happens after I die?
2: Is there a heaven?
3: Is there a hell?
4: What is salvation?
5: Hold on! All those questions in one book?
1: Nope. All those answers in just a few verses.
2: Romans 3:23
1: Each and every one of us has sinned and come short of God’s plan.
2: (as an unbeliever) Of course I’ve sinned. Everyone who has ever walked the face of the earth has sinned.
4: Not true. Jesus lived a perfect life. He was tempted in every way that we were tempted, and yet he didn’t sin. He was God in flesh. And He came to settle the score.
1: Man was created with a free will. In the beginning man was innocent and enjoyed intimate fellowship with God.
2: But the first man and woman that ever walked the earth began to listen to the voice of another creature—an attractive, sly being who thought that he deserved to be God.
3: They had a choice,
1: and they chose to reject God.
2: But God still reached out.
4: God showed them protection,
1,2,3: but we chose risk.
1: God showed them love,
4: but we wanted power.
1: God showed them provision,
2: but we wanted independence.
1: But still He loved them.
3: And throughout wars—
All: He loved us,
3: prejudice—
All: He loved us,
2: perversion—
All: He loved us,
1: idolatry—
All: He loved us,
2: sorcery—
All: He loved us,
4: violence—
All: He loved us,
3: pride—
All: He eternally loved us.
3 & 4: For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.
1: But God demonstrates His love toward us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us
All: Romans 5:8.
1: God loved us.
2: And instead of simply speaking His love through the voices of the prophets, He acted upon them.
3: He came to earth dressed not as a king,
4: but as a servant.
5: Most didn’t believe that He was God.
2: (as skeptic) Who, Jesus? That’s Mary and Joseph’s son. He’s a carpenter! Have you lost your mind?
1: But Jesus was a Man with a Mission, a do-or-die mission to save the world.
3: The religious people of the day scorned him—
4: (as Pharisee) He eats with sinners, prostitutes, lepers, beggars, tax collectors.
1: I have come to proclaim freedom to the captives.
2: And when He saw people using religion as a weapon—
3, 4: (improvisational) Stone her! She’s an adulterer!
2: He offered God as redeemer.
1: Let he who is without sin cast the first stone . . . Where are your accusers?
2: They’re not here anymore.
1: I don’t condemn you. Go, and sin no more.
Friend of God
3, 4: But in the end, they mocked the very face of God.
All: They nailed Him to a wooden cross.
2: His body was beaten so badly that He was unrecognizable as a human.
3: And even on a day of pain like none other the world had seen, He was reconciling the people around Him. His killers . . . the thief next to Him, His friends who were too afraid to show their faces on that wicked hill, the hypocrites who were too full of themselves to notice the Son of God who stood before them . . . even those who spit on Him and beat Him . . . He loved them still.
4: And when He said, "Father forgive them," He was looking all the way down through history to you
2: and to me—
All: to all of us.
3: No wonder they call it amazing grace.
1: It was a gift.
2: He died to pay the price of spiritual freedom.
3: He paid the price.
1: The wages of pride—
4: the wages of rebellion—
3: the wages of sin—
2: For the wages of sin is eternal death,
1: but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ.
2: And the gift of God was a clean slate.
1: There is no condemnation to those who are in Christ!
2: Absolutely none!
4: Sexual sin?
1: He covered it.
3: Jealousy?
1: He covered it!
2: Murder?
1: He covered it.
All: It was nailed to the cross.
1: He plunges our sin into the sea of forgetfulness and He remembers it
All: NO MORE!
1: He died and then conquered death.
4: Three short days had come and gone. Three days of mourning for the disciples,
2: three days of triumph for Satan and the forces of hell.
3: (as Satan, looking up in the heavens) We’ve won! You thought You could take the keys of death from me. (mocking) Some Savior. You were a weak, impotent fool, and I am now the ruler. Eve was mine! Adam was mine. Now the whole world is eternally mine to rule and conquer.
2: But down through the halls of Satan’s empire were the footsteps of a Mighty Risen King—
1: The Prince of Peace,
2: the Son of God,
4: Jesus.
All: And the walls of death and hell came tumbling down!
3: His scars of the crucifixion are marks of freedom for you and me.
All: Romans 5:8.
(Track 4)
2: For God showed us how much He dearly loved us in that while we were marred by the cancer of our own sins
4: Christ,
3: God in Flesh,
1: the Son of the Lord Most High
2: came to earth.
3: He lived a perfect life
4: and then
4: died for us.
1: How much did God love us?
All: He came.
1: and He died in our place.
2: And if you believe, you are not condemned!
All: Romans 8:1.
2: There is no guilty sentence,
3: not even a warrant,
4: there is absolutely no condemnation
3: for those who come to Christ,
1: the only way to freedom.
2: So what do you have to do to claim this freedom?
All: It’s found in Romans 10:9.
1: If you confess with your mouth—
2: Jesus, You are my Lord. I am a sinner and I can’t be clean without You. I’ve been foolish to think that I could live a meaningful life without You, Jesus.
1: And if you believe in your heart—
3: Lord, You said that You were the only way. It’s up to me to decide if You are who You say you are. I realize that I have to believe something. I must believe that You are who You say You are: a liar or God. And I believe that You are God. And I believe that You died for me.
1: If you confess it and believe it,
All: you are saved.
2: It is so simple.
3: He paid the price for eternal life and peace with God.
4: The wall of sin and rebellion
1: and loneliness and the ugly wall of death and the grave
2: will come tumbling down if you receive
3: and believe
1: and accept—
All: for whosoever—
1: black,
2: white,
3: Jew,
4: Gentile,
2: rich,
1: poor,
2: old,
3: young,
4: murderer,
5: extortioner,
1: liar,
2: slanderer—
3: whoever calls
4: on the name of the Lord
2: shall be saved.
1: Now is the time.
All: Don’t wait.
2: You aren’t guaranteed
4: a single minute in this life.
1: He died for you.
3: He loved you that much.
4: Will you come to Him?
1: You will never,
2: ever
3: regret it.
4: Romans 10:13
5: Whoever calls on the name of Jesus
2 & 3: shall
2, 3 & 4: be
All: saved!
