Romans 16:17

I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them.

Such wise advice from Paul. Keep away from the smooth talkers the manipulative that will try to get you off the mission God has called you to accomplish. The mission of the church is far to important to spend time interfacing with divisive people. We define our call by discerning which people want to grow and the ones who simply want control.

How many pastors and leaders have been knocked off course by saints who have no interest in mission but simply desire to be proven right through arguing and power plays?

Lord, I pray for my brothers who are distracted by smooth-talkers and obstacle bearers.

As I've watched the crises in the gulf I am reminded that so many people want to blame rather than lead. Spiritual dysfunction creates time wasters. True transformation brings about change and repair.
