Interesting insights for an expert of cultures that have exceptional longevity.
What are the common denominators for a culture of longevity?
1. Move naturally. Constantly nudged into physical activity. They all tend to have a garden. They walk (Walking is the only proven way to stave off cognitive decline)
2. The right outlook. They know how to order their lives. They all take time to downshift. When you are in a hurry or stressed it triggers the "inflammatory response". When you slow down you turn the inflammatory state into an uninflammatory state. Two most dangerous years: The year you are born and the year you retire.
3 Eat wisely. Moderate wine drinkers (5 times per week), plant based diet,
4. CONNECT: THey put their families first. They are all a part of a faith based community. (Worth 10-14 years if they do it 4-5 times a month. They surrounded themselves with the right people. If you hang around with unhealthy people you'll become unhealthy. Diets DON'T WORK. Your friends are long term.
