    where we meet God

Sometimes piercing the sky in the wild winds of Sinai
Sometimes in the furnace of consequence
Sometimes in the middle of dry river beds
sometimes in the cleft of jagged refuge
but always on the threshing floor

    Where the wheat is separated
Where our lives experience redemptive calamity
a collision of mercy and holiness.
On the threshing floor, pain creates intimacy.

So we are invited to go deep into in the pit
    the altar of harvest
    privately
we can not meet Him in the city square
if we do not seek him at midnight on the threshing floor.
