Gen 26: Bad things happen in Egypt

The LORD appeared to Isaac and said, "Do not go down to Egypt; live in the land where I tell you to live. Stay in this land for a while, and I will be with you and will bless you. For to you and your descendants I will give all these lands and will confirm the oath I swore to your father Abraham.

So often we are attracted to head to egypt (a metaphor of spiritual bondage) when we aren't allowed head direrctly to the destination.  God is so interested in our behavior in the in-between-time. None of us have arrive.  God says to us, "Stay in this land a little while."

Stay here a little while.
I've got the masterplan
I know the road is sometimes rugged, with jagged rocks and crooked turns
the streams are muddy and the way is dark
I'll give you some light for the day and some food for the way
Just remember when you stop- whisper a prayer, rest for a moment.
Stay here a little while
and you'll remember throughout eternity
the times when you turned from Egypt, not seeing the prize
you reminded yourself
that day leads to day
and that tomorrow is just a little while.
