Encouraging and unsettling
Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at 08:08AM it's the status of my life these days. I've seen God do some amazing things and yet I know there is still more to do. The pressure of pastoring through change is incredible. I've been amazed at how it shakes the foundation of people when you lead a church through change but God is my refuge over all my leadersip weaknesses so I commit every day to run to Him.
This past Sunday was an incredible confirmation that people in both services are learning to worship. We are learning to stop the judgementalism of voyeuristic observation of how other people worship. If I am focused on my performance to God how can I at the same time look to the right or left and judge another's worship attitude. Worship is one avenue of the Christians life that deserves blinders. Total surrender of worship to God requires work to block out all distractions and worship both with our spirits and with gut level honesty.
This week I am praying for unity. It is happening but we need an even deeper desire to be unitied in spirit for us to see God's kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven.
I am both stretched and encouraged by all that is happening. It's quite an adventure.
