irony divine
Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at 05:32PM I was just a shepherd
Just a Sage
Just a unplanned pregnancy
Just a husband to be
Just a businessman
Just a donkey
Just a stable
Just a star among trillions born
But, oh, so much more
That holy night
When lights appeared
And a Child was born
Heaven and Nature
the anthem of God
Belted across the eastern sky
Like the winds of grace
And He came
And everything changed
And hope was restored
And soon the blind would see
The lame would walk
The captives freed
And extraordinary grace revealed
That holy night
A promise kept
And He came
To embrace the brokenness of creation
The uncivil wounds of civilization
And the end has not been seen
But the promise is sure.
Through the fires of destruction
And the tears of the destitute
He will return
To wipe our tears
To redeem the days
To make all things new
As he signed our emancipation in blood
He will hold us again
And the time is set
World without end.
