in search of bliss
Monday, January 28, 2008 at 08:15PM Thinking today about churches that I've experienced. Worship, small groups, teams, strategies and missions. To me, I don't believe many of us have a real, abiding desire for bliss. When the church no longer pursues it, longs for it, celebrates it, or aspires for it, we have nothing to say to the world. This bliss of Christ is our greatest ally in the quest for souls.
the rush of life is bound in time
but not this restless soul of mine!
I've come to realize and know
that love is not the pitied foe
My heart alive and passion stirs
no mind to what my death infers
it is the sunset and the rain
the solemn sea and harvest plain
my passion stalks it as a prize
no losing grace, no compromise
i'll forge into the great unknown
i shall relent to Christ alone
My famished soul gives all for this
i'll suffer all for heaven's bliss.
