two Philippians readings from Chapter two

This is how we did scripture yesterday...

    Reading 1

    1:The Word of God

    3: Phil. 2:1-4

1: If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ,

2: if any comfort from his love,

4: if any fellowship with the Spirit,

1: if any tenderness and compassion,

All: then make my joy complete

    2: by being like-minded,

    3: having the same love,

All: being one in spirit and purpose.

1: Do nothing out of selfish ambition

    4: or vain conceit,

3: but in humility consider others better than yourselves.

1: Each of you should look not only to your own interests,

2: but also to the interests of others.

    All: The word of God

    1: From the Apostle Paul

2: To the Church at Philippi

3: The call remains to this day.

4: The call to the Church

    1: A Call for unity

    2: A Call for comfort

    3: A call for Love

All: May the passion and joy of Jesus make us one.

    Reading 2

    1: The word of God

    2: Philippians 2: 5-11

    4: Let the same mind

    1: And Attitude

    2: And Purpose

    All: Be in you

3: that was also in Christ Jesus

4: Who being in very nature God,

1: did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,

    3: but made himself nothing,

2: taking the very nature of a servant,

1: being made in human likeness.

4: And being found in appearance as a man,

    All: he humbled himself

1: and became obedient to death—

All: even death on a cross!

3: Therefore God exalted him to the highest place

4: and gave him the name that is above every name,

All: that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,

1: in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

All: and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
