    battle sounds

warrior not of flesh nor blood
    valiant in the raging night
slings of fiery dart and flood
ignite the charge aglow at night
    who rides the steed
    who wields the sword
    tis Christ indeed
    it is the Lord.
    dark warriors leap
    the crash of time
    across the  steep
    intrepid shine
    and His glory
    rises strong
    the victors story
    heaven's song

    Some (more cultured)
see this mystery of shared journey
as a sublime walk through picturesque beauty
free from traps, tricks and trembling steps
but my stumbling gait is birthed in the battle
relentless as much in tone as in the talking
words never aimed or heard by ear
voices still the same in heart.
the waging raging declaration of territorial skirmishes
often (yes even this morning) the vehemence of obstacles
as the oft compliant will brings subterfuge to divine resolve
    save me from the travesty
    of languishing and luxury
(the part of me that seeks vain indulgences)
    knowing this--
the soul is often a calculating vagabond
seeking assurance of comfort and dissolving risk
But mansions are not found on earth
they are christened in a second birth.

(we, as men, lose our lust for holy conquest and exchange our armor for polo shirts and better television.)

    Thank you, Matt!

Needed this one today. Opposing warriors coming from many sides and I have felt surrounded on so many levels.

But we are never alone! This fight is not ours.

    Thank you for reminding me.
