    Advent:  Hope

    mary_jesus.jpg

where is hope? could it be found
in oil and wine on sacred ground?
in treasured moments eye to eye?
when cherished souls refuse to die?
Is hope a firm and solid fact?
or is it fragile, brittle, cracked?
    is hope faded, rarely seen
or ravaged in a stark ravine?
Is hope the ruse of herod's rage?
the journey of an eastern sage?
is hope a shepherd's tale of night?
    or destiny, a virgin's plight?

    it's hidden in our tragedy
    unseen by scribe and sadducee
    Hope is unrelenting grace
as seen upon the Infant's face.

Thanks Matt, I was just in need of an intro to my sermon on hope - How many ways does God use you? more than you know!
