    Saying Yes to Know

    Voice of God: No.

Woman 1: Lord, I thought we talked about this. I don’t understand. Don’t you want me to be happy? What about all those promises that you’d answer my prayers? What about all the times I’ve spend cultivating this relationship with him? Why are you taking the one thing I really wanted more than anything else.

    Voice of God: No.

Man 1: I’m sorry Lord. I thought I heard you say something. What did you say?

    Voice of God: No.

Man 1: Wait maybe I misunderstood. Or maybe you didn’t understand me. That’s crazy, you are God. You understand everything but I thought for sure you said no. But you couldn’t say no to this. It’s the job I’ve worked for 15 years to get. So what did you say?

    Voice of God: No.

    Man 1: What?

    Voice of God: No.

Man 1: I’m going to ask you the question again. And I want you to answer this question the way I want it answered. OK? Is this the job you want me to have.

    Voice of God: No.

Woman 2: You said, be fruitful and multiply the earth. That was a pretty major command. So why won’t you let me have just one child. My neighbors have 4 and my sister has three. And I--- I’m just so angry! Why are you doing this to me. I don’t even think you are listening to my prayers. Why God? Why does it have to be like this? Is this because of something I did? What did I do to cause you to treat me like such a – I I don’t even no what I am anymore.

    Voice of God: No.

Man 2: She has served you faithfully her entire life. She’s taught Sunday School. She’s been on four mission trips. She loves you with every fiber of her being. But you just watch without lifting a finger! Why? I hate the word inoperable. I hate the word terminal. And I despise the word death. Why are you taking her away from me? It’s just not fair God. Why.

    Voice of God: No.

    (Long Pause—Music begins)

Man 1: Lord do you care?

    Voice of God: Yes.

Woman 1: Jesus are you listening?

    Voice of God: Yes.

Woman 2: Do you accept me even when I’m angry and I don’t understand.

    Voice of God: Yes.

Man 2: Will you help me say “Goodbye” to her.

    Voice of God: Yes.

All: Will you ever forsake me?

    Voice of God: No.

Thanks. Our church is really struggling with some "why doesn't God" issues right now. I think this will be a good discussion starter.
