morning prayer- awaken us

May the freedom of God reign
May the lips of self-made living be silenced.
Crush every self-sustaining tendency.
Because of your great love.
We respond to your mercy with unconditional surrender.
Let the river flow
Let the righteous know
that above the dwelling of Adam's exile
is a holy path to the heavenlies
Cast Your light my Lord upon the broken
Let dry bones walk
Resurrect dead dreams
vanquish selfish schemes
May your church seem more like lambs than exalted earthly authorities.
With laser beam exactness bring the betrothed to Your throne today.
We need more.
Your bride longingly cries out:
Open the door
teach us to dream the dreams of John and Daniel
cause us to live lives of exiled holiness
exiled to see the glory on the rocky shores of Patmos
in the midst of the tears of Babylon
castaways of every shred of carnality and vain pursuit.
As we wait, we are renewed.
