    1. a limiting of creative food- good books, silence, reflection, music, worship- these are the building blocks of the creative life.
    2. Ego- "Free me of myself so that I may be used of thee." Prayer of Michelangelo
    3. Lack of Holy Muse.
    4. Deficit of purposeful anger. (oh yes)
    5. exhaustion.
    6. Death of dreams
    7. Playlessness.
    8. A strong urge not to fail immensely. (Most great achievements began as catastrophic failures.)

    Hi Matt...
Oh, yes...especially #7: playlessness. I think that playing is so important, I wrote a book about it, just published by New Hope Publishers: Born to Be Wild: Rediscover the Freedom of Fun! You can go to my website to find out more: www.jillbaughan.com.

I've met you a couple of times at the Blue Ridge Mountains Christian Writers conference, and really enjoy your honesty about all things "churchy." Thanks for sharing yourself with us...
