What the samaritan woman and i share

"How is it that you, being a Jew, ask me for a drink since I am a Samaritan woman?" John 4:9
A question of surprise. A question i ask often.
How is it that you ask me for a drink?
What is a Holy God doing asking me for something? I reflect on the essence of Jesus- His power and self-sustaining preeminence. His independence and sovereignty and yet he asks me for a drink.
My question is How is it that You, a holy, righteous, powerful God, ask me for assistance.
You chose to engage me in relationship. You surprise me by calling me out of self-provision into holy service.
You choose to cut through the veil of flesh to use me. Warts, scars, frailties, futilities, past failure, false starts, fears...
Holy God asks broken man for a drink.
I have to get past these questions. I must trust and obey. I must release the rope, and send the bucket down the hole and serve up the water.
