    Worship at Central

once again had the opportunity to speak at Central. It was an emotional time. Chris did as excellent job communicating the thoughts and feelings of his family as they walk through this time of mourning. We all knew how unfair this is and there were plenty of tears . We gathered around Chris and prayed for him. He described this time as being in the depths of despair. He stayed for the sermon and invitation and then slipped out during the offering. I wish there was some way that I could share in a deeper way my sorrow for what he's going through without merely seeming avuncular.

I preached out of 1 John 3. That we are called the children of God. Used a clip from the Lion King-  The reflection scene of Rafikki and Simba.  Hand three youth stand up with signs that said "Shame" "Defeated" "Weak" and "Sinful"  Talked about the different labels that we cling to so many days and then talked about the fact that Jesus changes our names and they turned their Signs around and they said-  "Glory" "Victor" "Strong" and "Righteous."

Came up here to LifeWay to do some work on a number of things getting ready for the deluge tomorrow.
