Mourning the loss of Nathan Johnson
Friday, July 28, 2006 at 02:14PM Nathan is the 16 year old son of my friend Chris Johnson. He died near Beech High School where he was going to football practice. He was a committed believer and a GREAT kid. His band, "Through the Glass" was to play at Rockettown tonight. Just two nights ago he had shared his faith with a kid and prayed with him to recieve Christ as his Savior. Please pray for Chris and Kathy and their two other sons- Andrew and Matthew. I'll be preaching for Chris at Central baptist this weekend.
The news quotes from press:
Beech football player killed in Friday morning crashThe Hendersonville community is mourning one of their own as 16-year-old Nathan Johnson, an upcoming junior at Beech High School, was killed in a car crash on Long Hollow just 200 yards away from the school.
The accident occurred at about 8:45 Friday morning as Johnson was on his way to football practice.
Johnson was slated to be the staring place kicker, punter and kick-off specialist for the Buccaneer football team this football season.
“All of us as at school, football program, and a community, are deeply saddened by Nathan’s passing,” said Beech Coach Anthony Crabtree. “Nathan was a young man who touched many lives in his short time here, and he will be deeply missed.”
“Nathan was one of those guys that you never saw without a smile on his face, and even though this just happened I can safely say that we will be dedicating this year to him, and all our players will have his number on their helmets.”
Johnson was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
