Somebody asked me today...
Monday, May 22, 2006 at 11:01PM why do you blog? (i'm at a writer's conference.) Don't you find it weakens your work to simply have it out there for anybody to read?
I found the question puzzling because the whole point of writing is to get it out there for anyone to read. Sure, what i write is raw and unedited. Granted, lots of it is just crap. Some of it I go back and I blush. I'm serious! I literally blush when I read it. But I am compelled to blog because it has turned into a spiritual discipline. I've heard all the horrible stories of blog stalking and rants that lead to sinful exchanges, but honestly I've never really had anyone pick a fight with me. Not even theologically. Sure I've had some people make aspersions on my digital meanderings but I make aspersions on my stuff I write all the time. It's good to hear it from another voice. I am over the notion that i'll ever have an literary agent or "people" to manage my writing. It would be like a lawn guy having a secretary. I'm afraid I don't read as many blogs so I'm not as much a good neighbor as others are but I do have a few favorite haunts. Anyway, I thought I'd just blog this before I went to bed. I blog, therefore I am.

Please! Never stop blogging! You encourage me, you make me want to write. Meanderings spring forth great beginnings; brings forth needed support, and encourages small branches to grow. Love it, need it.
