danny spoke through waves of time
he danced through halls of grief and joy
he stayed the same through loss and pain
through questioning
through love and peace

i never heard a false word spoken
when life seemed lost, absurd, and broken
he celebrated life's ballet
he stood by us with feet of clay
he saw the stars through stormy night
he ran the race and fought the fight
he rests in bliss in God's great hand
in that great undiscovered land

and so we mourn
we hold on
we laugh through tears
we hope- but know
this shell before us
is only a brief reminder
of the unchained spirit
who shook our lives
and made us better
the last and only
fetter broken
he is alive and eternal
beyond our confusion and grief
to the horizon of eternity
where he waits
for the grand reunion- glory.
