Narcissistic Neb!
Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at 05:51PM A snippet of writing from a project I'm working on...
Do you have one of these people in your life? King Nebuchadnezzar was a “My way or the Highway” leader. He demanded obedience. People were scared of him. But not the Hebrew youths. They feared Someone else. One that held more power. Nebuchadnezzar was a man living in the midst of his own idolatry. And even worse he idolized himself! So it’s safe to say that freud wasn’t the inventor of Narcasism. He simply identified the malady.
So what are the symptoms of the Nebuchadnezzar syndrome? Here are a few things we can perceive from Ole King Neb that we can observe in some of the people living around us.
Grandiosity: Neb wanted everyone to know how high up the ladder he really was.
Irritation when ignored: When he heard about the three holy rebels he had to let them know how unhappy he was.
A deep envy of everyone who receives admiration: He wasn’t pleased with the Hebrews allegiance to Jehovah God.
Aggressive threats: Fiery Furnace (Hello?)
Act of rage: Over two thousand years later King Neb.’s tone is easily distinguishable.
Fantasies of beauty and intelligence: Remember the Statue- a dead give-away.
