    Philippians 2:1-11 (Personal Rendering)

If there is anything that should lift your spirits in this blood-brother relationship with Jesus, if there is any rest in this journey, if there is any bonding and unity that takes place between us and God’s spirit, if there is intimacy and unwarranted mercy, then complete the picture by thinking the same way, loving the same way in heart matters. Make this your magnificent obsession. Stop the ladder climbing, me-first attitude. Instead of falling into the typical pattern of life that is lived out in the world almost to a man, try this: Put others first. Don’t manipulate people or bark out orders you can’t live up to yourself. Swallow the tendency to whine like a child when you aren’t the center of the universe. But give the world and the Jesus family service second to none. This should be your focus, your mission, your outlook on life:

Jesus Christ personified through,in,and from you.
Just think about what He did.
He was divine in the fullest sense.
He carried the full nature of God.
    He was God.
And yet He wasn’t in the business of trying to keep people in their places
or striving to prove his own divinity to the mass ignorance which surrounded Him.
But, (get this.) He chose to make Himself
empty of any self-important attitude and chose to serve people as a man.
    What humility!
And the transformation didn’t stop there.
    His humility transcended servanthood.
He died in that state of humility and selfless service,
even enduring the nakedness, torture and humiliation of a cross.
And because of His testimony of humility,
God lifted Him to the pinnacle of heaven,
    glorifying Him and honoring Him
that at the Name of Jesus,
    knees will hit the ground
and every tongue will admit beyond any shadow of a doubt
    that Jesus Christ is Lord.
And the Glory will be to God.
