Word from Allen Jackson at the New Orleans Seminary
Tuesday, August 30, 2005 at 02:14PM Via Richard Ross
I am in Baton Rouge. Seminary offices are relocated to Atlanta for the duration. Thanks for praying for us. I have never felt so many conflicting responsibilities. The seminary was fine—wind damage and some substantial structure damage, but quickly reparable-- until the levy breached this morning. No communication is available, but it is assumed that 12-36 inches of water are now standing on campus. The breach in the levy is putting about a foot of water per hour into the city until they stop it. If you want to see some amazing pictures, go to www.wwltv.com and look. The mayor says that 80% of the city has at least a foot of water in it.
Keep praying. Your e-mail was a needed communication with a faith community. Pray for our students who left on Friday with enough stuff for their weekend church and woke up Sunday to catastrophic predictions which have unfortunately materialized. Pray for the 700,000 people who are without power. Pray for wisdom and peace in the face of loss.
Blessings,
allen
