conference update and a little harmless rant

We had a great first session from 6-9. There were perhaps 75-08 folks. at the conference. They have been such great hosts. fresh flowers in the room and a big basket of lots of stuff i really shouldn't eat.

We had a great time and i could certainly tell that prayers were answered. God gave us words.

We've been with martin, their pastor before in Wisconsin- Green Lake. We haven't been back to WI in about five or six years. i miss it.

Back to the conference though, i love this church. it has such a friendly, family feel.

    Now i must rant...

I was reminded of how much i deplore DFW airport. The taxi on the runways are longer than the flights. and the traains (i'm sure the extra "a" stands for something but i have no idea what that might be.) It's like an hour long ride on the Pirates or the Carabean without the pirates. slow, slow, slow. If you are going some place small you get a fun bus ride basically to a part of DFW airport that feels like it's in oklahoma. It's like a refuge camp for yuppie salemen. It's like the hotel california- the only way you're getting out of there is to get on a tiny plane where the attendant trainees with attitudes are in charge. But before you get on the plane you have to get on ANOTHER BUS!! Three actual seats on the bus and 40 people. On top of that, they aren't just going to your plane, they are going to other planes as well! When you get on the plane after another waiting yroom and tweo bus rides you feel like you are in the office on "Being John Malcovich" it's like flight attendant purgatory. they are the jet-understudies and they aren't excited about being there. It's amazing how they could make airtravel such a grounded experience. It's just a yukky, yukky experience. it looks like a place the committee on committees of First Baptist Anywhere would have dreamed up. It's such a bad experience it's almost classic.

Delta, they bite. and the airports do too. i just flew back from Salt Lake City, and o nthe way there they were supposed to play a movie, well they downgraded the jet and i had no entertainment for like 4 hours in the air. and they wouldn't give me more honey roasted nuts. dang those ppl... oh well, nice site, and good luck to you
