reflections on the death of Karol Wojtyla

the Pope is dead and i mourn with my Catholic brothers and sisters. (i guess i should add a disclaimer: The views on this blog don't necessarily reflect the views of LifeWay, pretrib believers, or SBCers (all of which, i am) Karol was a strong warrior for life. His first words to the public were "Praise be to Jesus Christ our Lord. I am told that- to the people of Rome at the time it was strange language. He called Billy Graham his brother. He was a powerful force in the war against communism and the fall of the iron curtain. i really do see him as a man of reform within the church.

There are many things that i don't understand about the Roman Catholic Church but bro. karol bridged a gap. We see him as a pious man of prayer spending over three hours a day each day. Not bad for a revolutionary leader with a full agenda.

Now I worry. Will the Roman Catholic Church choose another man of God or a politically connected leader, Will the new leader recognize or resent other parts of the body of Christ. Will he allow married men to serve as priests? (I certainly think he should.)

The election of the new pope is critical. It could bring about a spiritual awakening unlike any we have experienced or it could (call me wild-eyed if you must) usher us into apocalypse.
