My "Writing for Children" continuing class
Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at 08:15PM One of the last minute activities that I constructed for this class turned out wonderful. As adults we forget the life of a child. I had this idea of using a sense memory activity- usually a dramatic device as a way to unlock internal creative development. I had them meditate of their memories as a child using two words first ecstasy and then rejection. What a treasure chest of experiences, memories and stories. We all were amazed by the depth of emotion and story that "epiphanied" (my new verb) into the discussion. There was an incredible book in the room. A sort of transcendance that occured there.
Incredible detail and emotion came forth.
