praying for the Borden's and Action Ministries
Tuesday, November 15, 2005 at 08:43AM Action Ministries is a studentcreative ministries team that has partnered with us and CCAA.
Dear Friends,
I am writing you at the end of what has been a long day for our ministry, second only to yesterday. You may not have taken much note of the news reports lately, but a particular headline has had our teams glued to the screens. This is the story of the Borden family. Mr. and Mrs. Borden were shot and killed Sunday morning and their youngest daughter (Kara) went missing with the shooter, David Ludwig (a local homeschooler). He was caught in Indiana today and Kara is safe. There are many details still to be learned, but that is a brief overview. CNN, Fox and other news sites have the full story.
This story is close to us because the Bordens are a part of our ministry here in PA. Katelyn, their oldest daughter, is an Assistant Director for one of our teams. The Bordens have been with us for about two years and were very supportive and godly people. Needless to say, our teams are hurting right now. I don’t know that there is a member untouched. It is hard to deal with a senseless and unexpected death. There is much uncertainty and sorrow.
We had a joint team meeting today (Monday) to pray and cry together. It was very tough, but the kid’s hearts are afire for God to work even in the midst of this.
Tomorrow team Beta has decided to have its weekly practice, despite the circumstances. We need to be together and we are hoping to celebrate some birthdays; we are looking for joy in the midst of a storm.
We haven’t been able to have direct contact with the Borden children yet, but we know they are safe and being taken care of with in the homeschool and Christian community here.
Right now, we are just trying to keep moving and support those who are hurting. We would ask for your prayers throughout this time.
1. For the Borden youth as they grieve the loss of their parents.
2. For the Borden family’s future.
3. For our teams (particularly team Beta) as they grieve.
4. For our leaders, that they would have wisdom in how to effectively minister.
5. For David Ludwig, that we all can learn to extend grace and love to him and that he might experience the Love of God in this hour of need.
Thank you for your support and concern.
Good night, may God bless and keep you, may he cause his face to shine through you in this dark and weary land.
