morning prayer
Thursday, December 30, 2004 at 09:54AM Lord,
I pray for mercy as a man who has been given so much and yet takes so much for granted. I pray for mercy upon this nation, we have turned our back upon you to follow the false gods of wealth, sensuality and personal fulfillment. Lord, Jesus Son of God, have mercy upon our blind ways. I pray that your spirit will reign over us. Bring us into an understanding of our enemies. Teach us reconciliation and the truths of the Beattitudes.
Lord, I lift up the needs of the Tsunami victims. Lord, heal this world. Teach us to express grace toward those who oppose us and peace. Lord, I pray that we will understand the teachings of Christ. I pray that above everything we will encounter your word. Lord, I pray for the orphans of this world those near and far, those spiritual and familiar, those who have lost hope and those who are seeking home.
Lord, I pray that we will practice radical Christianity that works not out of logic but is obedient in every word. Teach me to be a literal Christian and not a believer of convenience.
